RE: Localisation and tools

Verner, I am assuming that you are looking for tools to organize and track
files and changes rather than to translate the documents themselves. We use
Microsoft Visual Source Safe to do this. The Engineering department uses
VSS as our standard repository system for both code and documents. We in
Tech Pubs also use it for Frame files because it is available. We also use
it for all files that are translated. I have no idea how much VSS costs,
but I expect that you can find this information on the Microsoft web site.

Subject: Localisation and tools

Hi

Do you have any cheap scenarios to facilitate the translation of manuals
into 10 or 20 languages?
Here we have issues of version control and reuse of drawings and standard
text insets.

We want a cost-effective solution. Are there any scenarios with FrameMaker
involved?
Maybe an XML solution?

I have heard of expensive document management tools but I am sure that that
is not an option for us.
