How about using a structured authoring approach? As FM7 puportedly can map to XML using unicode characters, read/write rules should be able to correctly map between xml using unicode greek characters and the custom font equivalents. Even without unicode support, couldn't the correct entities be mapped? Perhaps some scripting/macro equivalent could be developed without requiring an SGML/XML file 'middleman'. If your custom fonts were available to word and FM, then run a script on the source word files before copying to FM. If copying from FM to word, run the script after copying from FM to change to the correct unicode fonts. Eric L. Internal Subject: RE: FrameMaker 7.0 and Greek characters You could do this if you want to have to re do any Greek text that is sent to you. The Greek fonts that are available are set to a certain character mapping. If you decide to change this mapping in your NEW font you will have to fix you Greek every time. ****************************** Ann Zdunczyk a2z Publishing LLC mailto:azdunczyk@triad.rr.com Adobe FrameMaker 5.5 ACE PAL Member http://www.pal10n.org http://www.a2z-pub.com (336)922-1271 "Carpe Diem" -----Original Message----- From: bounce-framers-75297@lists.raycomm.com [mailto:bounce-framers-75297@lists.raycomm.com]On Behalf Of Jeremy C B Nicoll Sent: Thursday, May 23, 2002 6:15 AM To: Framers List Subject: Re: FrameMaker 7.0 and Greek characters > Do this (on PC): > - Open Font "Times New Roman Greek" or "Arial Greek" to Character Map > - Copy characters from 0240 to 0249 > - Paste these into FrameMaker > - Try to change them into UpperCase One solution would be to invent two fonts of your own, one called - say - "MyGreeka" and the other "MyGreekb". Copy working character definitions from some other font into the normal A-Z positions in each of these fonts, placing the first half or so of the greek alphabet into MyGreeka and the second half into MyGreekb. -- Jeremy C B Nicoll - my opinions are my own. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Framers Archives: http://lists.frameusers.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?visit=framers ------------------------------------------------------------------- === Personal List Subscription Information ==== You are currently subscribed to framers as: azdunczyk@triad.rr.com To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-framers-25323O@lists.raycomm.com Send administrative questions to listadmin@FrameUsers.com.
