Para tag not showing in book's Generate PDF list

I made a paragraph tag which
- does appear in the file's Print>generate PDF dialog lists
- does _not_ appear in the book's Print>genreate PDF dialog lists (although
the auto-generated _TOC tag based on this tag does appear in the book's
list)

Perhaps relatedly, the TOC entries for this style do not include the tab
character altho it's clearly set in the paraTag definition and _does_ appear
in the reference page line.

Whazzup?
