All: The new Aqua look on Mac OS X is just lovely -- all those transparent 'boiled lolly' colours and clean, pale backgrounds. Unfortunately, screen shots look terrible in print because you cannot tell where the window or dialogue ends and the paper starts. This may also become a problem with Windows XP shots, especially if Microsoft hires some graphic designers sometime in the future. 8^) In our reference tables (with the pale mauve background), grey screen shots merge with the mauve, so once again they are hard to distinguish. Here is a tip to separate screen shots from backgrounds. To add a thin black border to a screen shot 1 Click on the screen shot. 2 Choose Graphics > Object Properties (Esc g o). 3 Set the values listed below: @ Color: Black @ Tint: 100% @ Overprint: From Color @ Border Width: 0.25pt 4 Open the graphics palette (click the set square symbol at the top of the right scroll bar). 5 Click the border button (square with fuzzy outline) and click the solid black square in the PEN pop-up menu. The screen shot should now be outlined with a thin black border that separates it from the background.
