Meredith, What is most likely happening is that the font Helvetica Neue is not embedded in your EPS file (in the general case, if you have text in an EPS file, save the EPS file from Illustrator or Acrobat or wherever with fonts embedded!). When you print the FrameMaker file to a "live" PostScript printer, the missing font results in printing in Courier, but spaced incorrectly. When you create PDF, what is happening is that the Distiller does indeed find the font for you and embeds it into your PDF file. By the way, this is exactly why you are often much better producing PDF files first and printing from Acrobat. You effectively preflight AND also have some opportunity to get around some missing resource problems at distillation time. - Dov PS: My condolences on being stuck with Windows NT 4.
