Frame to HTML

I know this issue has been raised, resurrected, spat on and discussed back and forth a hundred times. Alas, my archives attempts yield little or no useful information.

With respect to using FrameMaker 5.5.6 to convert to HTML, I could really use some helpful feedback on the following issues:

1. After editing the FrameMaker reference pages to get the custom HTML mapping one wants, how does one prevent FrameMaker from adding and editing entries in the table? That is, once we've painstakingly mapped all umpteen thousand tags to something sensible, FrameMaker mucks with the data on the Reference pages. We do not want that. How does one stop Frame from "helping us out"?

2. After looking on reference pages, master pages, and body pages for leftover and unused character tags, saving as MIF, etc. FrameMaker still insists there are numerous character formats present in the file and appends them to our table, sometimes causing problems with HTML divisions. Any ideas on clean-up?

3. Under File > Utilities > HTML Setup... there is a GUI method of getting at this table. Is this the preferred method or can one edit the Reference pages directly? We're trying to avoid issues associated with (1) above.

4. Is the full version of WebWorks more reliable? Is it available as a free demo or similar way to "test it before you buy"?

Thanks all,
Jason
