Why would you try to do it that way? Look, if the GlossTerm element holds text, then it's a container element, whose EDD format rules can specify either a unique Elment Paragraph Format Tag, or, it the container is specified to be a text range, a unique Character Tag can be specified for it. Then, after modifying the EDD as described, you import the element definitions from the revised EDD into the Glossary file. This action will create, in the glossary file, a new paragraph tag or character tag having the name specified in the EDD format rules. You then style that tag to meet your formatting requirements for the text in GlosTerm (iif the EDD specified a character tag, you can set all the parameters in the Character Designer to "As Is"). But if, for some reason, you can't or won't modify the EDD as described, or if IXGEN still can't handle it by inserting markers containing the GlosTerm text, there's another, even simpler way, as described below: THE OTHER WAY For the Glossary file, generate a FrameMaker alphabetical List of Elements/Paragraphs, in which the only tag moved into the Include Elements/Paragraphs list of the Set Up Alphabetical Element and Paragraph List dialog is the GlosTerm element. If you wish, you can turn hypertext links on. The resulting generated list will contain an alphabetical listing (with page numbers) of the text in all the GlosTerm elements. You can then go to the reference page containing the list specifications for the generated list, customize these specifications as you desire, save the revised generated file, and then generate the list again. ==================== | Nullius in Verba | ==================== Dan Emory, Dan Emory & Associates FrameMaker/FrameMaker+SGML Document Design & Database Publishing Voice/Fax: 949-722-8971 E-Mail: danemory@primenet.com 177 Riverside Ave., STE F, #1151, Newport Beach, CA 92663 ---Subscribe to the "Free Framers" list by sending a message to majordomo@omsys.com with "subscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
