RE: Distiller Trivia (WAS RE: Frame 6 files only distilling in Black and White - help!)

Art:

(1) Count your blessings. You are lucky this works for you.

(2) Adobe does not test the ability of PostScript generated by arbitrary
PPD and PostScript driver combinations to produce PostScript that yields
proper PDF and allows full access to Distiller and PDF features. The
reason is obvious, most don't by definition. PostScript, especially
from drivers is indeed device-DEPENDENT! Quite frankly, if you are
discarding potential PostScript printers simply because the PostScript
generated via the official driver in combination with the PPD won't
yield a "proper" PDF file, you are doing yourself and your clients
a tremendous disservice.

(3) The original thread was started by a poor user who should given
solutions that are if not bulletproof, at least not porous enough to
drive an 18-wheeler through. Thus, my concern at any response that
relies on circumstantial proof of correctness.

I respect your disagreement! (8^)>
