Or you could point > the xref to a 2-point paragraph of white text just before the heading. The extra paragraph method has its disadvantages, as others have pointed out. But there is a variation that may be a little better: If your headings don't use autonumbering, define the heading paragraphs with an autonumber string identical to the text you wish to see in the link, e.g. "To add a receipt to a batch". Then you can use an xref format of type <$paranum> instead of <$paratext> to display the alternate autonumbering string. But you also need to make the autonumber string invisible. Define a character tag Invisible with white color, 2 pt size and 0% stretch. In the Numbering properties, use that tag for the autonumbering string and use the Position "End of paragraph". The string will take up very little invisible space. This assumes you don't need several different alternate xref strings for the same heading. In that case, hypertext links is the only choice. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert mailto:Thomas.Michanek@telia.com (Sweden) http://go.to/framers/ (updated on Oct. 11) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Join the low-volume "Free Framers" mailing list: send an email to majordomo@omsys.com with "subscribe framers" in the body ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
