I used to do that as well, but just recently I 
found that some web-based messaging interfaces 
can erroneously grab punctuation after such a 
link and make it unusable. I now surround my 
links with white space; and, if that interferes 
with proper punctuation, I rewrite the sentence 
to avoid the problem.
