CharacterFormats in Running H/F1

I am perplexed by something it seems I should have known for a long time,
but seemingly, I have not until now. 
 
When I use a character style in para style "Heading1" that is used in
variable "Running H/F1" <$paratext[Heading1]> only some character attributes
seem to be transferred though into the header. Namely, the font seems to
transfer, as well as Subscript/Superscript and
Uppercase/Lowercase/Smallcaps. 
 
Is this the normal algorithm in Framemaker? Am I missing something?
