Actually, I'm not sure what driver was used before; it may very well have been the old Microsoft driver... When I compare "old" and "new" PDFs, the new ones have a larger file size (some 10-15% for text only), but the old ones are not searchable for text in TrueType fonts. The font information also differs. TrueType fonts have their "real" names in the old files, but are named "TT..." in the new files. On-screen appearance and print-outs are of identical quality, for both Type 1 and TrueType fonts. I can see no degraded quality due to the "Outline" download option. I'm just reporting my experiences. It was, unfortunately, a big hassle getting correct PDFs after switching to the new AdobePS 5.1.2 driver, but since this is what Adobe recommends, I'll keep using it (with the "Outline" option). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert mailto:Thomas.Michanek@telia.com (Sweden) http://w1.133.telia.com/~u13304072/framers * * U P D A T E D O N N O V . 2 * * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
