Bill, From the sound of it, it would appear you should be too busy to have responded at all, but your comments are so articulate and, I think, perceptive, that I'm glad you did. Interestingly, there is one particular field of documentation where I believe formatting is a hindrance, and it's what we're doing right now: e-mail. I thank unadorned e-mail for a rebirth of writing around the world, and the associated searching for meaning. Even flame/holy wars probably serve a useful function in this binary swirl of raw voices seeking expression and resolution. I suspect that as formatted e-mail (inevitably?) replaces unformatted e-mail, the world will be poorer for it :-) My father dabbled in typesetting as a hobby in his retirement. In honour of your upcoming documentation chores, as well as your typesetting experiences, I wish you the Gaelic prayer my father printed by hand for me some years ago. He had typeset it in many fancy fonts and in multiple colours. But it's probably just as effective in plain text: from Ghoulies & Ghosties & Long-Leggity Beasties & other things that go BUMP! in the night, the Good Lord deliver us Regards, David -- David Cramer, Process Innovation Evangelist 87-1313 Border Street PBSC Computer Training Centres (an IBM company) Winnipeg MB R3H 0X4 Corporate Office Research & Development Canada ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
