And here I though the book file has no fonts in it > (if it does, where's the Designers to change them?). > The font < TIMES, Regular, Regular, Regular > has been auto-activated. When a book file is updated the first time, a copy of all cross-refs in the files making up the book is stored in the book file, together with all character tags used in these cross-refs (check the book MIF). Font specifications may very well be part of this information. > What can I look for in, perhaps, a MIF file of the BOOK that will give me > some clue as to where the problem lies? Is there, instead, something in one > of the chapters doing this? Would it be in one of the Designers, or is this > indicative of inline formatting somewhere? Search for the font name in the MIF and check whether it appears in the character catalog (in the beginning of the file) or in one of the x-refs later in the file. You'll get a hint where the problem may be. If you're sure the problem doesn't appear when you open any of the files in the book, you can simply delete the character catalog and the book xrefs from the MIF file, resave it as binary, and then re-generate the book. The book file may contain information no longer used in the chapter files, and this should clear things up.
