No. I don't think that's it. I find it ironic thought that Steve asked Adobe to
help them by developing many of the application they had for Mac OS X (at least
according to reports). They (Adobe) said thanks, but no thanks.

Why these decisions were made are anybody's guess, but part of it is marketshare.
But, I do feel that's grossly overrated having worked at both Apple and ATI Technologies.
At ATI, there were a dozen Mac OS Engineers, that's it. Now granted the overall
board design was done by a group of engineers who were classified as PC engineers,
however the PC group had close to 200 engineers vs. 12. Product for Product, the
Mac OS boards cost less to support, document for multiple languages (I did them
all for the Mac, whereas we had 7 writers for the PC side). I simply have a hard
time knowing what I know from ATI about how much money the Mac side brought in vs.
the PC side to think that marketshare is all you have to look at when making these
decisions.

I don't think it was about not making money doing it. I think it was however how
much time and effort it would have taken to get FrameMaker out of Classic and into
a real Mac OS X application. Those of us using it on classic do so now because we
have no choice. However, if they still sold it, I would certainly be demanding a
Mac OS X version. Right now I'd settle for them simply selling the latest version
still. Instead you have find it used or on eBay from somebody who had old copies
laying around.
