Clare,
  You've received several responses to your question about changing fonts 
within an autonumber. If you are working with structured documents, there's 
another possibility that I haven't seen mentioned yet. In particular, you 
may be able to use a prefix for part of the desired string and display the 
prefix in a different font than the autonumber.
