Re: indent right margin on first line

Bill;

Take a bow. It's a very clever solution. One of these days I hope to totally wrap my head around it.

Now, if this was Word, the little man in the corner would do it for you ... and then Word would crash :)

Bill Briggs gave me an awesome solution to this problem. I've cc'd him in the hopes that he will share it again.

Dave, you're makin' me blush. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that one of the things I truly love about FrameMaker is getting her to do some kind of tricky thing that the designers never contemplated. There used to be a guy on the Framers list a long time ago, in the days of Phong Co. Wim something or other was his name, I think, and he was always coming up with some clever way to do the unimaginable with FrameMaker. I got inspired by many of his crafty solutions. Don't know if he's still on the list or not.

I used it on my TOC's and the problem has virtually gone away. A few paragraphs still need soft returns inserted, but for most of them the page number, with leader, ends up on the right margin even when the paragraph text in the TOC is split over multiple lines.

I'd try to explain it, but I don't fully understand it. I just know that it works.

It does require some work on the reference pages to insert tabs, but that only needs to be done once.

Actually, you're lucky. After David sent me the question, I bothered to "write it up". I've got a Frame document that explains it, and a couple of screen shots (tiffs) that show the body page, the reference page, and the para designer, so you can see what the elements are that make this work. I'll send Lisa the files and she can give it a whirl.
