Semi-bogus "Inconsistent Numbering Properties" message Frame 7.0

Hi;

There's a strange "Inconsistent Numbering Properties" we are getting in
FrameMaker 7.0. It seems clear enough *why* we are getting it; but it seems
that FrameMaker may be overzealous in issuing the message in the first
place.

The problem is that in the Numbering Properties dialog (Format > Document >
Numbering), under the Page tab, you have a radio button which lets you
select First Page #:, Continue Numbering From Previous Page in Book, and
Read From File.

We strictly continue numbering from previous page in book (except for the
standard frontmatter file). Therefore First Page # is never selected.

However, the First Page # field is always set to some number, even though
the choice is not selected. This number happens to be set to the actual
first page number of the file when the book is regenerated (so it can be 4,
23, 191,...).

But when we apply formats from the template, if "Document Properties" is
selected, then the indicated page number is reset to 1 (the individual
template files have only one body page). However, the book remembers what
the indicated page number was. And when the book is regenerated, every file
reports "Inconsistent Numbering Properties", because the book remembers "4",
while the file says "1" (In the MIF, I would guess that that is the
<PageNumStart 8> bit).

The reason why I call this a semi-bogus error, and why I say FrameMaker is
being over-zealous, is because the setting of the number has no effect
whatsoever when not using the First Page # option, which we do not.

When we import formats, we could *not* select "Document Properties".
However, we do want to import PDF settings, which is part of Document
Properties.

It seems to me that the solution would be for FrameMaker to ignore any page
number in the First Page # field if that option was not set.
