Much thanks, Dov, Thomas, and Jason. Thomas: I tried to print the font after each of these stages, with no success: 1. Installed the Frame 7.0p578 patch 2. Installed Windows XP patch Q329604 2. Installed the latest version of ATM lite 3. Uninstalled ATM Dov: Yes, this is a custom font sent from the client (MSP is for Microsoft Press), so perhaps XP is more sensitive to it. I don't think it's a multiple master font. (It says "PostScript Single Master" when I view the font page from ATM.) Their solution to "just PostScript on Win98" makes more sense now. Jason: I tried that fix with my printer settings, but with no success. Could there be anything else I'm missing? Perhaps I need to request a replacement font (just the sort of thing I've learned they're not flexible with). Make sure you've downloaded and installed all patches, in the correct order, from: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=22&platform=Windo ws > -The font is installed on ATM 4.1 You don't need ATM on Windows 2000/XP, unless you use Multiple Master fonts. Certain older versions of ATM are known to not work properly on 2000/XP (cannot remember details). To quote another user problem with PS fonts on Windows 2000: "was ATM4.0 or 4.1 ever installed and removed on your PC? If so, this may have damaged the OS's native Type 1 handling. There is a 4.1.2 patch that will fix this." The following note on Adobe's User-to-user forum may have something to do with your problem: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?13@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@.1de5b45f "Under Windows 2000 (all versions) and Windows XP (both versions) after certain OS updates, PostScript printing of text formatted with Multiple Master font instances (used in conjunction with ATM Lite 4.1 or ATM Deluxe 4.1) appears to stop working completely for Adobe FrameMaker and all non-Adobe applications that do not generate their own PostScript." > -The font won't print from Word, either. But it does print from > PageMaker 6.5. Interestingly enough, PageMaker generates its own PostScript (see above). > -When I change to my printer's default driver HPLaserjet 4000 N, the font > prints. (But not from the Distiller or default postscript driver.) But is the font present in your PDF? Does it look OK on-screen? It doesn't seem like your problem is confined to Distiller/PDF, but have you checked that all fonts are Embedded and that Distiller's font locations include the folder for your font files? Have you tried re-installing the font, or installing the font without using ATM? _____________________________________________ Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert Technical Communicator, Uppsala, Sweden mailto:Thomas.Michanek@xxxxxxxxx http://go.to/framers/ _____________________________________________ ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxx ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. ** ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxx ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
