I suspect you got quite a lot of errors in the Distiller log file ...

If you are able to install and make running a piece of free software,
maybe one of sample scripts found on my site might help you:

There is only fmPython for FM6 there, but it (and the script too) should
collaborate with FM 5.5.6 too. If not please let me know.
