  Adding a read/write rule for the gap property (and a few others that are
missing) is on my personal top-13 list of things to fix in structured FM.
It would be a pretty simple FDK client to reset it either to a constant
value or according to an attribute value on import. Without the FDK, your
best bet is probably to save the imported document to MIF and fix it there.
