Re: [frame2acrobat] Researching offending commands

Dov,

Once again you prove your worthiness before the UserBase Tribunal of
Ruthless Judges. You've surely earned your funny Frame guru hat now.
Should we add this to the list of handshakes?

I tried the following combinations with the font information in the EPS
file:
1. Converted the font to outlines, and saved the file with "Include
Document Fonts."
2. Same as 1, only with "Include Document Fonts" off (potentially scary
as I've seen the other problems you refer to).
3. Using the text tool in Illustrator, saved the EPS with text using a
font also used in the Frame document (Helvetica Regular) and "Include
Document Fonts" on.
4. Same as 3, only "Include Document Fonts" off.

RESULTS:
1 and 2 work. 3 and 4 give me the error. Therefore, we should recommend
converting all font information in EPS files to outlines and saving as
Illustrator 7 or 9 with "Include Document Fonts" on. Be advised that
there is a little more work to get Illustrator 8 files to display
properly in FrameMaker.

Satisfied, but still warm,

Jason,

For better or worse, I have seen this one before. And it isn't just
a problem for the Distiller. You would get the same error if you
go to a PostScript printer. This type of problem seems to occur
if and only if you have an EPS file imported into a FrameMaker
document that uses and embeds the same typeface(s) used within
your FrameMaker document itself.

I used to see this problem, but not any longer with my current
system configuration. At least two other Framers have sent me samples
of this problem and with their files, I cannot reproduce it on my
systems. That is good news because I believe that when we make
AdobePS 4.4.1 available, this type of problem will be history.
I suspect that if you created a copy of the EPS file without the
embedded font, this problem would "go away" but could create
others. Try it and let me know.
