Hello Framers, Apologies for dwelling on the issue of print drivers, but I'm still living in the aftermath of upgrading to FM 5.5.6, Acrobat 4, and AdobePS 4.2.6. Our HP printers (5si, 8000, 8100) don't seem to appreciate some aspect of the upgrade. Combine that with a move from Mac to W95/8, and you can imagine the brushfires erupting everywhere. The registered trademark symbol (*), copyright symbol (*), and pending trademark symbol (*) display in FM 5.5.6 just fine. They print out looking like the dots you see above the letter i. The dots also appear in the PDF (on screen and paper). I've seen the error in custom PS fonts, Helvetica, and in the Symbol font. I do not see the problem occur if the default Windows Pscript.drv driver (4.00.95 and 4.10.98) is installed on the physical printers, and AdobePS 4.2.6 is used for Distiller. Most bizarre. 1. Are the AdobePS drivers only to be used for making PS you intend to distill to PDF? Can anyone comment on using the driver for physical printers, or do you stick to the default Windows model? 2. In FrameMaker, is that "Your font information has changed, this may affect the layout of some characters in your document" error message you get after choosing another printer from Print Setup anything to worry about? NOTE: We have hacked our PPD's from version 2014 to version 2015, so this isn't the known text layout bug associated with the 4.2.x series drivers. Any condolences, similar experiences, or crystal clear solutions would be most appreciated.
