John, Re: Unlinked graphics caused by storing graphics in multiple folders: Hmmm. I used to construct many docs using FrameMaker 4 Mac with referenced graphics coming from many differnt folders. I just tried this using both FrameMaker 5.1 and 5.5.6 UNIX Solaris and in both cases the graphics relink fine and are there on re-opening. I even moved the various graphics folders around a bunch, but I was forced to re-link only the first time opening after a files location was changed. Otherwise the links held, even though the graphics used were in multiple folders. There is something else happening here that is causing your problem. Though your fix may work, it is NOT a restriction of the software that I use. (Perhaps it's a Windows thang? What platform usa Ud., Juan?) The problem was a graphic that kept coming unlinked, no matter how often I re-linked it with "Update Document to use New Path" checked. The problem is that this graphic is in a sub-directory in the graphics directory. I.e., whereas the other graphics were in "Graphics," this one was in "Graphics/Sub-graphics." Apparently this is way too confusing for Frame. Solution: keep all the linked graphics in one directory. It's too bad, because I'd like to keep graphics for different chapters, products, or whatever, in different folders and have Frame do the assembling. Guess not. (If this isn't correct, or if there's another way to do this, I'd love for someone to write in with that solution).
