Subject: FM+SGML: assigning colour indirectly?

Here's a brain-teaser: I want to assign a colour to type or to a frame depending on the value of an attribute or the content of an element in an incoming SGML file. Can't see a way to do it. I have full control over the database which generates the SGML/XML, as well as the design of the final documents. Except that different clumps of docs have to be identified using particular colours. It's not too hard to do it manually, but there are 84 documents and they are likely to be regenerated daily for the next few months... Ideas?
