Hi all; I'm just starting to use 5.5.6 after using 5.1.1, and also back in the old days FrameBuilder. UNIX, all of them. I always found the right mouse button edit menu to be indispensably handy. Sometimes on my Win3.1 PC at home I click the right button hoping to cut and paste. Alas, in 5.5.6 the behaviour is so bad I think it's buggy. If I want to copy something, I must highlight using the right button; if I highlight using the left button (as is "natural") the selection goes away when I right-click for the menu. Also if you're looking to copy a word, the natural thing is to double-click on it, then copy. Won't work with this new arrangement. Likewise, because the left button relocates the insertion point, paste will dump the buffer contents to wherever the mouse is pointing, not where the insertion point was before you right-clicked to pull up the menu. (This is similar to the middle button paste function under X, which I use a lot too, but there are better reasons for it to work this way due to the variety of applications available.) Can the functionality be changed to work like it did before? At this point, the on-line manuals still aren't available (space limitations) though they should be installed shortly. All hints appreciated. If this has been discussed before....are there archives? Ed (don't you hate it when the eponymous "they" break something??)
