PRINTING ATTRIBUTE VALUES FOR SELECTED ELEMENTS THE PROBLEM: Presently, the only way to check and edit attribute values is via the structure view and the Attributes dialog, neither of which can be printed. If a systematic review of attribute values in a large document is required, these tools are inadequate for the task. THE PROPOSED SOLUTION: Add a capability to generate a hypertexted list of selected elements, with a list of attributes and their attribute values for each element instance. A snippet of the element text, if any, would also be included (ala the structure view), plus the page number where the element appears. The generated list output might appear thusly, where the elements could be listed either alphabetically by name, or in the sequence in which they appear in the document: Element: elemname.........(text snippet, if any) Page No Atribute1 Name: (value) Attribute2 Name: (value) etc., etc. If the element name line were hypertexted, clicking on it would produce a jump to the page containing it, and (possibly) could open the Attributes dialog so that the attribute values for the selected element could be edited. Alternatively, the generated list could be marked up with the corrected values, and an editing session would be conducted in which the mark-up would guide the editing process. ==================== | Nullius in Verba | ==================== Dan Emory, Dan Emory & Associates FrameMaker/FrameMaker+SGML Document Design & Database Publishing Voice/Fax: 949-722-8971 E-Mail: danemory@primenet.com 10044 Adams Ave. #208, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 ---Subscribe to the "Free Framers" list by sending a message to majordomo@omsys.com with "subscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
