If your paragraph style named 'ChapNum & numbers' is in the TOC-list for generating, a paragraphstyle named 'ChapNum & numbersTOC' is created in the TOC. You should give this format an autonumbering (ig. 'Chapter <n+>') under the numbering tab, and in the pagination tab give it a sidehead alignment. (there should be room for sideheads) On the reference page remove the pagenum from the 'ChapNum & numbersTOC' line. generate the TOC again (first save!) The TOC does not pick up autonumbers from formats when generating. hope this helps.
