Re: Minni TOCs



We generate both HTML and PDF formats from our FrameMaker
files and using mini-TOCs at the beginning of each chapter is
part of our department Style Guide.

I used to generate the mini-TOCs as Dan suggests, but found
it was more reliable to use cross references to generate the
hyperlinks on Level 1 heading paragraph tags (or to any level
you prefer).

It depends on how you're going to use the final product, but
if you ever intend to use both PDF and HTML for these files,
then cross-referencing works better than generating
chapter TOCs and importing them as text insets.  By "works
better" I mean that there are fewer potential snags when
converting the files for online output.
