RE: Installing FM 7.1 and Acro 7 on Win XP

I had the same problem. As best I can tell, FrameMaker looks for the
"Acrobat Distiller" printer instance to create PDF's and the Acrobat 7
installer creates a printer instance named "Adobe PDF". After I renamed the
printer instance from "Adobe PDF" to "Acrobat Distiller" everything worked
great.

David,

I had the same problem. I had to uninstall Acrobat 7 and 6 and then
reinstall Acrobat 6 so that FrameMaker could create PDFs again.

I hope someone else has a better solution!

Barbara

David,
I had a problem with the Acrobat upgrade on Windows 2003. With FrameMaker
7.1 installed, I upgraded to Acrobat 7 and I was not longer able to create a
PDF file. It somehow lost the "Printer instance." I posted a question about
this a while ago, but no one responded. I still need help.

I can't believe that I sent this without completing it. My thoughts are
scattered today :-( I meant to also ask if there any special patches that I
must install before running FM7.1 and Acro 7 on WinXP?

Thanks very much for your patience and advice!

Sorry to dig this question up again, but the list archives remain
unaccessible. Please bear with me.

On my Win XP Professional SP2 computer, I'm about to install my FM 7.1
Upgrade (from v6.0) and then Acrobat 7.0 Upgrade (from v5.05). I have
plug-ins.

If I remember from the past, I should skip the installation of Acrobat which
is on the FM7.1 CD. Then, I can install the Acrobat Upgrade separately (do I
have to uninstall the old Acrobat first, or do I need it so that the Upgrade
Setup can identify my license?).

Are there any sp

I then assume that I have to request new passwords for my IXGen 7.2.P067 and
FrameScript 2.1 R3 applications. Do I have to update a license for
TableCleaner (Rick?)? How about any of the CudSpan plugins such as TOC
Breaker and PGF Whopper?

Thanks for any help,
David
