RE: FrameMaker's Future

From Adobe's 2003 Annual Report at http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelations/pdfs/2002_ar.pdf:

"Finally, we experienced a 29% year-over-year decline in type and technical publishing products, which
includes our Adobe FrameMaker product, due to overall economic weakness in the geographic markets in which
these products are used."

Most companies are not going to support products with that kind of loss in revenue for very long. Perhaps if our economy picks up, Adobe's attitude will improve, too. <Dream on, Carol>

You know, if faced with a choice between no FrameMaker and old FrameMaker, I'd take the old any day. Even without upgrades and new product features, Frame stands alone in its ability to meet my publishing needs. I know that it would be a bad business decision to sell FrameMaker to another company because that would create competition for whichever of its products Adobe thinks we're going to migrate to. But if Adobe decided to do nothing more than keep the product compatible with the next few iterations of MSWindows, I'd be ecstatic.
