RE: autonumbering problem using <$chapnum> variable

You should use different series identifiers for headings, figures and tables.

For example:

H:<$chapnum>.<n+>\t
F:Figure <$chapnum>-<n=1>
T:TABLE <$chapnum>-<n+>

By using all S identifiers, numbering restarts with every <n=1>.

Subject: autonumbering problem using <$chapnum> variable

Hello-I recently discovered a problem with my numbering and could really use a hand in figuring out why it is not working. If you look at the sample flow below, the very last Heading 2 is not picking up the correct number and is displaying as A.3 instead of A.6. I have included the numbering for each of these styles in hopes that someone might discover why the numbering is broken. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm under the gun and completely on my own in creating these templates.

APPENDIX A. APPENDIX TITLE A S:APPENDIX <$chapnum>

A.1 THIS IS HEADING 2 S:<$chapnum>.<n+>\t

A.2

A.3

A.4

A.4.1 This is Heading 3 S:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n+>\t

A.4.1.1 This is Heading 4. S:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>.<n+>\t\t

A.4.1.1.1 Heading 5. S:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>.<n>.<n+>\t\t

A.4.1.1.1.1 Heading 6. S:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>.<n>.<n>.<n+>\t\t

A.4.2

A.4.3

A.5

Figure A-1. Insert first figure here S:Figure <$chapnum>-<n=1>.

Figure A-2. Insert second figure here S:Figure <$chapnum>-<n+>.

TABLE A-1. Insert first table title here S:TABLE <$chapnum>-<n=1>.

TABLE A-2. Insert second table title here S:TABLE <$chapnum>-<n+>.

A.3

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards,

Elizabeth K.
