RE: codepages in FrameMaker and Word ?

Bjørn,

I'm sorry to say that it's not that easy. MS Word handles all text as
Unicode (UCS4) internally, so when you copy the text, you are getting
Unicode characters that FrameMaker doesn't understand. If you want to
get the Greek text out of Word, you will need to save it as a "Plain
Text (*.txt)" file. When you do this you are prompted to select the
encoding you want for the file, make sure the "Other encoding" radio
button is selected and scroll up until you find "Greek (Windows)" then
click on "OK". You can then open the text file in either a text editor
(I use TextPad) or just open it up in FrameMaker. Once you get the text
into Frame you can use the Times New Roman Greek, Arial Greek and
Courier Greek fonts on your Win2K or XP machines to read and publish the
Greek text.

I hope this helps,

Steve

Subject: codepages in FrameMaker and Word ?

When I paste text from a greek Word document directly into FrameMaker
all text turns to nonsense even if I use times new roman greekn in the
FrameMaker doc and in the Word doc.

One CAN past greek text from PageMaker into FrameMaker.

Now what is actually the differences in codepage in FrameMaker and Word?
There has to be some relationship between the hex values in the two
programs or is it Windows clipboard which messes up the copy/paste?

Kind regards
Bjørn
