Hello, I've defined my equation paragraph with the following numbering: E:<<$chapnum>.<n+>> The <$chapnum> variable doesn't get translated into the chapter number. After reading the online help, I checked the chapter number system variable by inserting an instance of it into a body paragraph, and it gives me the proper chapter number. I tried Special->Variables->Update, then Edit->UpdateReferences->AllCrossReferences. Still no change. I also checked Format->Document->Numbering->Chapter. The 2nd options in this panel is selected, corresponding to "Continue Numbering form Previous...". However, the 1st (unselected) option, "Chapter#:__" shows the right chapter number (Chapter 6 in this case). Obviously, I'm missing something. Can someone point me toward the right way to using <$chapnum> in the equation's paragraph numbering? Thanks. Fred P.S.
