Deena, There is nothing in the Distiller than can cause your page numbers to be lost. However, your explanation of how you create PDF is very perplexing. First of all, Acrobat 3 is not supported under Windows XP. And disregarding that, why if you have Distiller 5 installed would you create PostScript for distillation by printing to what you call the "Acrobat Distiller 3.0 Printer?" Why don't you use the Acrobat 5 "Acrobat Distiller" printer instance that is created by installing Acrobat 5? However, if I was a betting man (which I am not), I would guess that in reality, you are creating PostScript by printing to a PostScript printer driver instance that was really created with the "Generic PostScript" PPD. That PPD defines very wide page margins. And very likely, your page number fell into those margins which the driver scrupulously refuses to create PostScript in. If that is indeed what is going on, using the officially sanctioned and approved method of creating PostScript for distillation will remedy this symptom. - Dov At 5/9/2003 04:50 PM, Deena S wrote: >Hi, > >I apologize if this gets posted twice. > >On a Windows XP Professional machine, I have converted a FrameMaker 6.0 file >to PDF by this method: > >Print the FrameMaker file to the Acrobat Distiller 3.0 Printer (to a file >creating a .ps file) > >Then Using Acrobat Distiller 5.0, I convert that .ps file to a PDF file. > >When I open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat it has the page numbers in the >acrobat lower pane but it appears that my 40 page document doesn't actually >have page numbers. in other words, the distiller "lost" my framemaker >master >pages I think. > >Anyway, my book reviewers insist on printing the PDF file and it is >printing >without page numbers,.
