Get Unix FM to import PDFs?

Hello,

Last I heard, the ability to import PDF pictures is confined
to PC based FM's.  I'm using FM6 on unix.  I'm importing
EPS, but that takes alot of bytes, 6x more than PDFs.  Is
there a simple way to make Unix FM read in PDFs?  I
know there are tools to render figures to MIF, but they cost
money, are slow (on our system), and require setup (not
that a PDF reader wouldn't take setup time).  Is there a
way?
