This happens infrequently to me both within and without FrameMaker. The most recent occurrence was yesterday, when I could not type the correct file extension when saving a graphics file in The Gimp. In my case, the letter that appeared was displaced from the letter I pressed; thus pressing 'm' typed ';', and so on. It appears to be a fault in the keyboard driver. If you shut everything down and reboot the problem clears itself -- or at least it does in Windows 2000.
