Upcoming FM-to-Acrobat Adv Tech seminars (days 1,2)




My 2-day FrameMaker-to-Acrobat Advanced Techniques seminar is now divided
into two parts, taught on day 1 and day 2. You can take either of the days, 
or both.

Day 1: MAKING THE MOST of FrameMaker's Built-in PDF-Related Capabilities
and More ($600)

Topics include:
* PostScript printer drivers and recommended settings
* Distilling & the Save As PDF function
* Avoiding negative side-effects in the PDF file (text/graphics)
* PDF features supported by FrameMaker
* Cross-references: uses & techniques in PDFs
* Hypertext capabilities
* Bookmarking techniques (properties, hierarchy, extracting Figure/Table
   bookmarks and more)
* Handling FrameMaker books with cross-file links
* Creating optimized print and screen versions from a single FrameMaker source
* Problems, solutions & workarounds
* Testing your PDFs

Participants receive the following add-ons: Link Checker (ARTS),
PageLabeler (Carmen Publishing), Bookmark Controller (MicroType) -- $220 value.


Day 2: BEYOND WHAT'S BUILT-IN -- Automating the Creation of High-Quality
Interactive PDFs authored with FrameMaker ($700)

Topics include:
* Using pdfmark commands to define Acrobat features in FrameMaker
   (through TimeSavers shortcuts, PS text frames or prologue/epilogue files):
     - Buttons with actions (such as Search, Close, Print)
     - Document Information fields (standard/custom)
     - Full control of default view options
     - Associating an Acrobat index with your PDF
     - Annotations
* Additional bookmark options:
     - Custom bookmarks (eg pointing to web sites, e-mail feedback)
     - Quick-access bookmarks
     - Cross-file bookmarks
* Enhancing navigation and interactivity:
     - Chapter tabs, dynamic document maps
     - Transparent navigation in a PDF document collection
     - Drop-down menus pointing to common destinations, related topics,
       web-based files, pre-defined searches or JavaScript functions


Participants receive the following add-ons: FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers
(including Bookmark Controller), Navigation Assistant (MicroType) -- $260 
value.

Days 1+2: Attend both days ($1250), pay less and receive more:
Defaults Assistant (MicroType) and a personal gift: How To Read a Film DVD,
in addition to all add-ons from days 1 and 2.

The seminar includes two months of e-mail support (submit exercises for
feedback, ask questions or get guidance when implementing the seminar
techniques).

Both days are applicable to FrameMaker 5.x, 6 & 7; Acrobat 4 & 5
