In general, FrameMaker 7 in all aspects has been tremendously stable
and reliable compared to FrameMaker 6 and that includes installation
and operation.

I strongly suspect that your “uninstallation” wasn't really complete
for better or worse.

FrameMaker 7 stores one or more initialization files in directories
named:

        C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxxx\Application Data\Adobe\FrameMaker\7.0

where "xxxxxxxx" are the names of all users who run FrameMaker 7 on your system.

If the uninstaller didn't delete these directories, you should BEFORE attempting to
reinstall FrameMaker 7. Also make sure that the FrameMaker 7 installation directory
is fully deleted before attempting a re-installation.
