Linda, Ruled lines, whether on the Reference Page or drawn on the Body Page, should be adjusted for precise length by using the Graphics menu pull-down, clicking Object Properties, and typing in or adjusting the length exactly, according to the measuring unit selected in your preferences. Changing the length setting in the upper-left of the Object Properties dialog box will adjust line length in either case. This adjustment will work whether the line is horizontal, vertical, or on an angle, as long as the line has not been grouped. Good luck.
