Click the Start button, the select Settings, and select Control Panel; 
double-click on the Display icon in the Control Panel. Click on the 
Effects tab. There is a checkbox for "Smooth edges of screen fonts". 
Click it to put a check in the box. Click on Apply then click on OK.

That will cover the most common cause of jaggy screen fonts in 
Windows 2000.
