Four possibilities although I can probably think of others: 1- You want to use perl to process MIF files. Export only the content to MIF, process with perl, open in FM, import formats from template. 2- To correct a corupt file. Export only the content to MIF, open MIF as binary, import formats from template. (missing fonts good bye.) 3- You have version specific templates. Export only the content to MIF, open MIF as binary, import formats from correct template. (missing fonts good bye.) 4- Complete clean update of templates. Export only the content to MIF, open MIF as binary, import formats from correct template. (missing fonts and ingerited garbage good bye.) But I don't think you have it right about tables. You can have a table with out its corresponding format in the document. Eric L.
