I'm not sure what the suppress updating setting does, but it didn't have any effect. I don't need to know the bloody page counts of each file and as far as I can tell, what should take a couple of minutes is taking hours. After leaving the book to build in FM7 it now looks like I'll have to wait a half hour or so for the MIF file to open in FM5.5.6. I've never seen so many errors in the console before. Congratulations Adobe, you've started down the path of MSWord. Taking a perfectly workable program and hindering your users productivity with questionable 'features' and flash. I have no great dislike of knowing the page ranges in the status bar or having first paragraphs showing in the book. But for the sake of productivity and those of us that cannot stand needless code bloat or the requirement to triple our processor speeds for each new release, at the very least all such 'improvements' should be provided with a manner in which to disable them. It really doesn't help my humour that all of this could have been avoided if FM didn't suffer from some kind of bug with books generated by script or in MIF. Such books seem to crash every time I attempt to generate/update. The disappointing thing is even if this is not the case in FM7 (haven't used 6) it'll still take me hours to open a large book because the stupid thing opens each and every file in the book in sequence.
