Hi framers As far as I know XML is used in 2 main areas: Storage of marked-up documents as SGML was used, and transfer of information between systems. Many see the strength of XML being in the latter as mature technologies like "Relational Databases provide a much better means of storage, indexing, and retrieval of information than plain text files". I have also heard that SGML is for big companies and XML which is much simpler is for small companies. I have the feeling that XML is not that much used for outputs to both paper and online formats like DHTML and MSHTML. I have made a demo EDD for structured writing in FrameMaker. Have you any examples where small groups use XML for markup of documents? Have you come further than the "guided editing stage", i.e. have you made XSLT stylesheets? Are there any real life examples on the web where I can see XML in use? I see a lot of examples from companies selling tools and solutions. This is a good site if you want to see a demo of XML, XSLT style sheets and SVG graphics. http://www.imap.dk/index2.html Best Regards Verner Andersen Documentation Manager BarcoNet A/S - a Scientific-Atlanta company Tel +45 39 17 08 85 Fax +45 39 17 00 10 Mailto:verner.andersen@barconet.com http://www.barconet.com http://www.scientificatlanta.com ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
