I would say no. The only problem is if you apply character formatting
to an entire paragraph. You then create a paragraph format override,
in addition to having a character format applied. To remove the
character formatting in this case, you must apply the Default Para
Font as well as re-apply the paragraph tag.

In all other cases, there should be no problems removing character
formatting.
