When using spelling checker dictionaries in FM 5.5.6 on Windows, can you place the Personal Dictionary on the network and share it with other FM users? Here are the details: We are a group of writers working on a set of files, and we would like to share the same workgroup-specific dictionary among us, and to add words to the same dictionary. The only way to easily do this using the Spelling Checker seems to be to share the same "Personal Dictionary". You can tell the Spelling Checker to "learn" a new word by clicking two different buttons: 1. "Allow in document" adds the word to the document's dictionary. 2. "Learn" adds the word to the Personal Dictionary. The Personal Dictionary is by default the file "user.dct" in your local FM installation. You can change the filename/location of the Personal Dictionary by using the Dictionaries button in the Spelling Checker (and presumably in the maker.ini file). Has anyone tried to place the Personal Dictionary on the network and let several FM users share it, so that all of them have access to the same dictionary and easily can "learn" new words? Are there any problems with this if several users run the Spelling Checker at the same time? Will FM let more than one person access the dictionary file and write to it, without the file becoming corrupt or incomplete? I know about the "Site Dictionary", but we need to easily add new words to the dictionary while running the Spelling Checker. This doesn't seem possible with the Site Dictionary. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, Technical Writer IAR Systems AB, Sweden: http://www.iar.com mailto:Thomas.Michanek@iar.se Tel: +46 18 167800, Fax: +46 18 167838 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
