Hello! Can someone at Adobe please confirm that there is a known bug in the equation editior running under MACOS? Best regards Johan ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 15 Jun 2001 08:17:26 -0400 From: Feri Farassat <f.farassat@larc.nasa.gov> To: Docsys Support <Docsys.Support@cern.ch> Subject: Re: [Fwd: FrameMaker 6.0 Eq. Editor for MacOS] Dear Johan, The FrameMaker people have told me that they have other important things to do than to fix this bug! They have twice reproduced the bugs I told them about. I have lost the case numbers. I use equation editor of FrameMaker regularly and the bug is bothering me. Here is how you can check what I am talking about. I have a Macintosh G4 computer with OS 9.04. From FrameMaker 6.0, with equation editor template open, select from Equations, New Large equation. Then, from Operators, select fraction (not ./., but - with dot on top and bottom). You will see that the ? in the denominator overlaps the fraction line. When you use the positioning and correct this problem, the fraction line appears thicker than it should be. I found another bug also in the equation editor but it is less annoying. I have stopped using version 6.0 and have gone back to v. 5.5.6. I do not like most of the features of the equation editor of FrameMaker. For example, the cursor is no longer at your control and the arrow keys are disabled. It adds parentheses where you do not need them. The equation editor was written by someone that had no idea of the needs of mathematicians, engineers and scientist. it was not properly tested I am waiting for Publicon to appear from Wolfram Research to abandon FrameMaker. I have tested the beta version of Publicon and I like it very much.
