Opening a MIF in MSWord will show you the MIF text. So yes the first line will be <FrameMaker 6.0>. This will be followed by the MIF code. (If you want to know more read the MIF reference manual.) If you open a MIF file in FrameMaker, it is translated into a FM file. Or I suppose, more accurately, FM parses the MIF code and displays a FM document. Unless, of course, you force FM to treat the MIF file as text and not MIF. Eric L.
