Yes, as a matter of fact Mif2Go does that.  It's intended to make the
original graphics available to third-party programs for touchup, but
it works well for your purpose.

You are wise to make this change, for many reasons... especially since
without the originals you will have no recourse if your copied graphics
all turn to gray boxes one day.

True, but your copy/paste are at screen resolution, so you lose quality
there too (if the originals were at higher res, such as 300dpi).  You
can't do this with the FDK using Frame's export filters either, for the
same reason; they re-render, rather than export existing images.

Mif2Go also exports the FrameMaker vector graphics themselves, as WMFs,
if you want to work with them in some application outside of FrameMaker.
Mif2Go, at $295 for a single-seat license, may seem pricey for this
simple task, but compared to the alternative of custom C/C++ programming
(not just FDK), the only alternative we can think of, it's a bargain.
And you get the very best HTML and RTF output, including *all* forms of 
Help, as a bonus... something the bundled WWP with FM6 does *not* include.
