Acrobat 4.05 installs the AdobePS drivers which were most current
when the master CD for mass distribution was prepared:

Win95/98: AdobePS 4.3.1
WinNT: AdobePS 5.1.1
MacOS: AdobePS 8.6

The last two are incapable of producing interactive PDFs from
FrameMaker.

If you install the latest AdobePS drivers on NT (5.1.2) and MacOS
(8.6.1), the Acrobat installer should not install the problematic
driver and the production of interactive PDFs from FrameMaker will
not be affected. Alternatively, downgrade the AdobePS driver to
the version you had before.

"Quite a few" of us are still waiting... me included. Acrobat- and
PDF-related lists and newsgroup still have occasional "I haven't
received the 4.05 update" messages. (I was told that some vendors
will expedite handling if you pay a for a rush free upgrade).

Distribution is slow, as could be anticipated based on past
experience - which is why I was upset when I learned that there
would be no 4.0->4.05 patch available for internet download.
On NT, at least with some of my jobs, 4.0 is producing
useless PDFs (mirrored pages, flipped dingbats) - not including
"standard 4.0 issues" , so I still have to use Distiller 3.02
regularly.

While visiting the US recently I was able to update the Acrobat
installation in my Win98 latpop to Acrobat 4.05 (thanks, Michael!).
Even though I haven't had the chance to work extensively with
it yet, I am glad to say that 4.05 seems to solve most of the
problems in 3.0x/4.0. So it will be worth the wait!
